Food for Thought

Will Botox be replaced soon?

Botox has bloomed in the past few years. Previously much unheard of, Botox has become a common term, used only among women previously but gaining popularity in men lately. Botox is non-invasive, requires minimal down time, comparatively affordable procedure which allows to soften lines, modify the face features upto a limited extent, and to temporarily get rid of symptoms like excessive sweating and migraine.

But, for a while now, other businesses like face yoga trainers, skincare businesses etc have been demeaning Botox. It is being claimed that Botox is addictive, it costs heavy on clients' budget and can lead to multiple side effects.

Taking these aspects into consideration, what we believe is so far researches do not prove Botox is addictive. It's side effects are there but very rare. Also, the good part is that Botox is temporary, allows the clients to choose for the next time that if they want to continue or not.

In compendium, Botox is a temporary solution but when paired with good skin care, face yoga and a healthy lifestyle, can prove miracles for skin. Lastly, every components of maintaining a good skin counts, be it Botox, fillers, micro needling, face yoga, medical grade skin care products, so there as is no point in criticizing one in favor of another.

Current trends in Botox

Gone are the days when Botox was just being used to soften wrinkles on face and neck. With more research, Botox is now an art to sculpt the face and body, used as a preventative tool and being a 'Glow tool' as well. Few current trends in Botox are explained as follows-

Baby Botox

The name may suggest that Botox is now used for babies but baby Botox is a new trend to administer Botox to people between 18-28 years age, to prevent/decrease the formation of lines in long run. Baby Botox is to provide Botox but in relatively lesser doses and just touch ups instead of a full dose which is usually administered to people with visible lines.

Barbie Botox

As indicative by name, Barbie Botox is to slim down the trapezius muscles in neck and shoulders thereby creating an elongated 'Barbie' like appearance.

Brotox

Brotox is a term used to denote men using Botox. Botox is getting quite popular among men but implies a great responsibility on injectors to not feminize the face, understand the client's perspective and needs about Botox.

Improving skin quality

Botox smoothes  the skin thereby reflecting light which gives illusion of skin glow. Thus, the indirect effects of Botox are visible reduction in size of pores on face and increase in collagen production with repeated treatments.

Botox in combination with other treatments

Botox alone has a limited effect in improving skin texture. Also the best results of Botox can be seen only when it is paired with other modalities like micro needling, laser and a good skin care regimen.

Botox to sculp face

Botox is now being widely used to lift the face, sharpen and slim down the lower face thereby giving a more sharper and lifted look.

Botox for TMJ symptoms

Botox can really help with TMJ symptoms like headaches, teeth grinding. Also, it  can relax muscles causing excessive sweating in underarms.

So, Botox is not merely a wrinkle softening method anymore with its extended effects. But at the same time it digs responsibility on injector-client duo to be realistic with Botox expectations, be fair in use, moderate dosing and be open to more options so that the best results from Botox can be achieved.
